The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for identifying and managing risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. You will work closely with maintenance, engineering, and third-party partners to ensure the reliability and maintainability of both new and modified installations across all plant equipment. Your role will involve developing solutions to reduce losses from repetitive failures and other issues affecting operations, including capacity, quality, cost, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Root-Cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA).
  • Implement Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Analyze asset system performance, including asset utilization, remaining useful life, and other parameters defining operating condition, reliability, and costs.
  • Develop and monitor asset management strategies.
  • Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/re-design, and make/buy decisions.
  • Track utility spending with a Continuous Improvement mindset for overall plant cost reduction opportunities.
  • Provide documentation and on-site training for maintenance and engineering personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 5+ years of experience working with industrial equipment within a manufacturing plant.
  • Experience in defining, collecting, and analyzing data for equipment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints/schematics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Asset Management and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Maximo is nice to have.
  • Possession of a Master Electrician License is advantageous.

Work Environment

Located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the facility focuses on processing and distributing aluminum products. The 480,000 sq ft facility is highly automated, clean, and operates advanced extrusion and casting machines that can reach temperatures of 2,000 degrees. The dress code is casual due to the hands-on nature of the work, which may involve getting dirty. This is a first shift role (7am-4pm), and the team primarily supplies to automotive, consumer, industrial, and medical device markets. The work environment is supportive, with opportunities for training and career development. After six months of employment, employees gain access to Udemy courses. The role offers 10 days of PTO and 6 standard holidays. The position is stable, with the potential for conversion to a permanent role within 12 months.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $57.70/hr.
