Position Overview: The Temporary Broadband Training Support Specialist provides advanced technical and instructional support for Reeves County Library’s LIFI broadband workforce development initiative. This role bridges complex broadband, networking, and digital infrastructure concepts with accessible training for adults seeking to upskill for technology-driven careers. The specialist serves as a technical subject matter expert, supporting instructors, library staff, and community partners in delivering practical, employable technology skills to workforce participants.
Key Responsibilities
• Technical Instruction & Support: Deliver and support broadband workforce training sessions, translating technical concepts—including fiber optics, internet protocols, network fundamentals, and digital infrastructure—into accessible instruction for diverse adult learners.
• Classroom Facilitation: Assist instructors with technical demonstrations, laboratory exercises, hands-on networking activities, and troubleshooting during training sessions.
• Staff Development: Provide technical training and professional development for Reeves County Library staff on broadband resources, digital technologies, and emerging technology services.
• Workforce Upskilling: Support adult learners pursuing technology careers through guided instruction in broadband networks, connectivity solutions, and career-relevant digital competencies.
• Technical Equipment & Materials: Prepare, configure, and manage computers, networking hardware, and instructional technology; develop or adapt technical training materials, presentations, and reference guides.
• Participant Assessment: Track learner progress, administer evaluations, maintain attendance records, and support documentation for grant reporting.
• Partnership Coordination: Collaborate with Reeves County Library leadership, Learning Alliance, DelCom, Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin, VRMI, and other project partners to align training with workforce development objectives.
• Advanced Troubleshooting: Resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and network issues during training activities and participant support interactions.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Network Administration, Engineering, or closely related technical field.
• Proven experience as a technical instructor, professional trainer, workforce trainer, or educator delivering technology-focused instruction.
• Professional experience in IT support, network administration, broadband services, or telecommunications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of broadband networks, internet technologies, computer systems, networking principles, and digital infrastructure.
• Proven ability to develop training materials and explain complex technical concepts to audiences with varying technical proficiency.
• Excellent communication skills with adult learners, library staff, workforce participants, and community stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in dynamic training environments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in broadband workforce development, technical education, or workforce training programs.
• Background in fiber optic networks, telecommunications infrastructure, broadband deployment, or network operations.
• Experience delivering professional development or technology training to adult learners, library staff, or community members.
• Experience supporting public libraries, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, or community technology initiatives.
• Bilingual English/Spanish (strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with grant-funded digital equity, digital inclusion, or broadband deployment initiatives.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA, fiber optics certifications)
• Schedule determined by training session calendar and project milestones.
Supervision
Reports to Reeves County Library leadership; coordinates closely with Learning Alliance, DelCom, VRMI, and LIFI project partners.
