Job Description:\n\nAbout the Company\nA small, team-oriented manufacturing company specializing in converting rubber, foam, and nonwoven materials into custom-engineered components for a variety of industrial and commercial applications.\nQuality, responsiveness, and practical problem-solving are central to how the company serves its customers. The Quality team plays an important role in supporting production, customer satisfaction, compliance, and continuous improvement.\nThis is a hands-on opportunity to gain broad experience in manufacturing quality systems, inspection processes, ISO documentation, customer and vendor quality communication, PPAP, and cross-functional problem-solving.\nPosition Summary\nThe Assistant Quality Assurance Manager will support the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the company's quality systems, inspection processes, documentation, and customer and vendor quality communications.\nThis position is ideal for a detail-oriented and organized quality professional who wants to build technical knowledge and leadership experience while developing toward a future Quality Manager or Quality Control Manager role.\nThe position will work closely with production, sales, purchasing, vendors, and customers to help ensure products meet customer requirements, internal quality standards, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.\nThe company anticipates this role developing toward broader Quality Control Manager responsibilities over approximately 3–5 years, based on performance, business needs, and demonstrated readiness. Progressive responsibility will be provided as the individual develops the technical knowledge, leadership skills, and quality systems experience needed for increased department oversight.\nKey Responsibilities\nQuality Control & Manufacturing Support\n\nSupport the Quality Manager with daily quality control activities and projects.\nCoordinate and prioritize quality control projects, including task assignments, follow-up, and verification of completion.\nSupport daily inspection activities and ensure inspection results are accurately documented.\nAssist with material and finished-part disposition decisions by gathering information, reviewing requirements, and coordinating with appropriate team members.\nIdentify quality issues and assist with root cause investigation and corrective action activities.\nProvide quality control training and day-to-day assistance to team members as needed.\nSupport tooling, die, sampling, and first-piece decisions for new or revised parts.\n\nCustomer & Vendor Quality\n\nAssist with customer quality issues, including NCRs, SCARs, customer scorecards, report cards, and follow-up documentation.\nCoordinate customer and vendor returns and RMA activities, including communication, documentation, and internal follow-up.\nServe as a quality contact for routine communications with customers, vendors, and internal departments.\nHelp investigate customer complaints and coordinate internal responses.\nFollow up on corrective actions and ensure required documentation is completed.\n\nQuality Documentation & Compliance\n\nPrepare, review, and maintain Certificates of Compliance/Conformance and Material Certifications.\nMaintain accurate quality records and documentation.\nHelp improve and standardize quality forms, templates, procedures, and records.\nSupport ISO 9001:2015 audit preparation, documentation review, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.\nAssist with environmental compliance documentation and recordkeeping.\nSupport UL submissions, inspections, and related documentation requirements.\nHelp ensure quality documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.\n\nPPAP & Technical Quality Support\n\nPrepare, review, and organize Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.\nCompile required PPAP forms, test results, dimensional inspection results, material certifications, and supporting documentation.\nCoordinate PPAP submission activities with customers, vendors, and internal teams.\nHelp ensure PPAP packages are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.\nRead and interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, quality requirements, and inspection criteria.\nPerform basic calculations involving part area, weight, volume, and material usage to support quality, estimating, and production decisions.\n\nQualifications\nEducation\n\nBachelor's degree required.\nDegree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.\n\nExperience\n\n2+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing, customer quality, documentation control, or a related field preferred.\nExperience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.\nExperience with ISO 9001, PPAP, corrective action, NCRs, SCARs, or quality management systems is a plus.\n\nSkills & Competencies\n\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong organizational and documentation skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and follow through on open issues.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small manufacturing team.\nComfortable communicating with customers, vendors, production employees, and internal departments.\nAbility to read and interpret customer requirements, specifications, engineering drawings, and quality documents.\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.\nAbility to make sound decisions based on documented requirements and available information.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.\nExperience with an ERP system or Quality Management System (QMS) preferred.\n\nGrowth Opportunity\nThis position offers more than a traditional quality assurance role.
