Scheduler – Structural Steel Projects
Location: Gibsonton, FL
Salary: Starting around $75,000 annually with growth opportunities into Junior Project Manager and Senior Project Manager roles.
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scheduler to support structural steel fabrication and erection projects in Gibsonton, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Engineering or Construction Management graduate who is energetic, eager to learn, and looking to build a long-term career in project management within the construction industry.
The Scheduler will play a key role in developing and maintaining project schedules, coordinating with multiple departments, and helping ensure projects stay on track from fabrication through installation. This role offers a clear career path into Project Management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Scheduling & Planning
- Develop and maintain baseline and integrated project schedules for detailing, procurement, fabrication, coatings, shipping, and erection activities
- Monitor project timelines, dependencies, and critical paths using MS Project
- Update schedules based on project progress, scope changes, and resource availability
- Incorporate quality assurance and inspection milestones into project schedules
Project Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, and Production teams
- Support project reporting and milestone tracking
- Assist with client updates and schedule-related communication
- Coordinate vendor and subcontractor schedules to maintain project flow
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly schedule updates and look-ahead reports
- Track schedule performance and identify potential delays or bottlenecks
- Assist with forecasting and variance analysis
- Maintain schedule documentation and revision logs
Risk Management & Process Improvement
- Identify scheduling risks including material delays, rework, and weather impacts
- Assist in developing recovery and contingency plans
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for scheduling and production efficiency
- Promote safe work practices by integrating safety-critical tasks into schedules
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred
- 1–5 years of scheduling, construction, fabrication, or project coordination experience preferred
- Recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Experience in structural steel, manufacturing, or heavy civil construction is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with MS Project preferred; Primavera P6 is a plus
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude with a desire to grow into a Project Management career
