Position OverviewWe are seeking a handson Senior Data Engineer (ETL / Python Developer) to support an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Analytics program in a regulated healthcare environment. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines that support Medicaid analytics, federal reporting, and enterprise decision support.This is a deliveryfocused role suited for someone comfortable working in “brownfield” environments — maintaining and modernizing existing pipelines while incrementally migrating legacy ETL logic into Pythonbased and cloudnative solutions. The position requires close collaboration with architects, analysts, QA, subjectmatter experts, and reporting teams across both legacy and modern data platforms.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support enterprise ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Informatica PowerCenter, and Pythonbased frameworks
  • Migrate and modernize legacy ETL workflows, including Informatica and shellbased processes, into Pythondriven solutions
  • Build and optimize scalable data processing pipelines using Python, Spark, and Databricks
  • Support Medicaid analytics and federal reporting initiatives such as TMSIS, PERM, MARS, and quality reporting
  • Implement data validation, reconciliation, and audittraceable ETL processes in regulated environments
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL and stored procedures across platforms including Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, and Teradata
  • Participate in Azurebased cloud migration and data platform modernization initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with analytics, QA, and BI/reporting teams to ensure data accuracy and timeliness
  • Provide production support, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and rootcause analysis
  • Follow best practices for performance, reliability, security, and reusability
  • Participate in code reviews, version control, and CI/CD processes using Azure DevOps and GitHub

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on enterprise data warehousing
  • 5+ years of handson ETL development using Informatica PowerCenter, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools
  • 5+ years of Python development for ETL, data transformation, and automation
  • 3+ years of experience working with Sparkbased frameworks such as Databricks
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata)
  • Experience working in regulated or auditsensitive environments
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and troubleshooting abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting state Medicaid EDW, MMIS, or publicsector analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and reporting requirements
  • Experience refactoring legacy ETL and shellbased processes into Python
  • Scripting experience using PowerShell and/or Bash for automation and orchestration
  • Experience with REST APIs and data integrations
  • Exposure to CI/CD workflows and DevOps practices
  • Azure data engineering or analytics certifications

Work EnvironmentThis role is fully remote within the continental U.S. Occasional travel to Springfield, IL may be required based on project needs.
