Job Description

Location: On-site
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Range: $35–$50/hr (commensurate with experience)

About the Role
We're looking for a Robotics Technician to support our teleoperation stations used for data collection via tele-operation. You'll be embedded with operators throughout their 8-hour shift, keeping stations running smoothly and stepping in immediately to resolve mechanical, electrical, or software issues so operators can stay productive and station downtime is kept to a minimum. This is a hands-on, general-purpose technical role for someone who's comfortable working across hardware, wiring, and basic software.

What You'll Do

  • Stay on the floor with operators for the full shift, ready to respond the moment a station has an issue
  • Set up and configure teleoperation stations, including robot arms/platforms, cameras, and haptics
  • Perform daily calibration and station checks before operation sessions begin
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, connectivity, and wiring issues quickly to minimize station downtime, including USB faults (disconnects, driver/enumeration issues, hub or cable failures) and power supply issues
  • Follow standard troubleshooting procedures (TPs) for common faults, including USB/connection TPs, and know when to escalate if a fix isn't working
  • Trace and repair basic wiring issues, and inspect power delivery to equipment (power supplies, adapters, connectors)
  • Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and part replacements on robotic equipment, including basic 3D-printed part replacement or fabrication as needed
  • Track recurring issues and escalate hardware or software problems to engineering as needed
  • Assist with setup of new equipment as stations scale

What We're Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience working with robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, or teleoperation equipment
  • Working knowledge of USB and cable connectivity troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of power supplies and power delivery troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and CAD basics
  • Understanding of general wiring troubleshooting
  • Comfort working with cameras, controllers, and basic networking (Wi-Fi/Ethernet troubleshooting)
  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows environments and comfort using command-line tools
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and the ability to stay calm and act fast when equipment goes down mid-session

Nice to Have

  • Experience with robot arms (e.g., YAM, Flexiv)
  • Basic familiarity with Git
  • Prior experience supporting AI/ML data collection operations
  • Experience with ROS or similar robotics middleware
  • Experience writing or improving troubleshooting documentation/runbooks

Schedule & Logistics

  • On-site, contract basis, embedded with operators for the full shift
  • Shift schedule: Morning shift 7am–3pm, Night shift 3pm–11pm
