Location: Oshkosh, WI
Work Arrangement: Onsite Preferred | Hybrid
Security Requirement: Must be eligible to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer – Autonomy & Active Safety to support the design, development, and testing of advanced embedded software systems for active safety technologies, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and autonomous vehicle applications. Occasional travel required for this role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed system requirements and overall software architecture.
  • Design, develop, and test embedded software applications and control algorithms.
  • Create comprehensive test plans to validate system safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Execute testing activities across simulation environments and real-world vehicle applications.
  • Participate in software development, peer reviews, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Follow CMMI Level 3 procedures and software safety development processes.
  • Evaluate system designs for functionality, safety, reliability, and performance.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline plus 5+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience programming embedded controllers using:
    • C/C++
    • PLC programming languages such as Structured Text
  • 5+ years of software testing experience, preferably within vehicle systems environments.
  • Experience with network communications technologies, including:
    • CAN Bus
    • Ethernet
    • Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software for vehicle control systems, including on-road or off-highway vehicles.
  • Hands-on experience with autonomous or self-driving vehicle technologies.
  • Experience integrating driver warning and driver assistance systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience using SysML for system modeling and architecture documentation.
  • Experience with sensors and perception systems, including:
    • Radar
    • LiDAR
    • Computer Vision
  • UNIX/Linux programming experience.
  • Strong software system design capabilities.
