Job Summary
B&A is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator – Lead to provide expert-level support for enterprise systems and infrastructure across a multi-site federal IT environment. This position is responsible for ensuring the stable operation, performance, and security of software systems, servers, and network communications. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical leadership, systems architecture, and hands-on operational experience to lead a team of system administrators in supporting mission-critical systems.
This position demands advanced knowledge in application networking, fault tolerance, vulnerability management, and large-scale enterprise systems—especially those involving Oracle Fusion Middleware and high-volume user environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development, installation, configuration, optimization, and maintenance of system software and network connectivity.
- Direct daily activities of system administration staff and oversee the configuration and operation of all information systems.
- Analyze and resolve end-user and system-level issues involving software programs, performance, and connectivity.
- Conduct capacity planning and system performance analysis; recommend improvements and configuration changes.
- Automate administrative tasks using scripts and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency of system operations.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and provide training to other system administrators and end users.
- Provide local and remote support for general maintenance, system upgrades, and new installations of servers and applications across multiple sites.
- Offer strategic input on IT systems direction to align with organizational goals and evolving business needs.
- Ensure high availability and fault tolerance of enterprise applications, including load balancing configuration and performance monitoring.
- Perform vulnerability scanning, patching, and mitigation to meet security and compliance standards.
- Provide support for enterprise systems, including those built on Oracle Fusion Middleware platforms with over 300,000 production users.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering).
- Minimum 10 years of specialized experience in the field of Information Processing.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of enterprise software systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with complex IT environments, including managing software, networks, and user support in distributed settings.
Desired Skills
- Experience leading technical teams in designing and supporting enterprise-level Oracle Fusion Middleware platforms.
- Hands-on experience supporting production environments with over 300,000 users.
- Advanced knowledge of application networking concepts including load balancing, traffic routing, and fault tolerance.
- Strong scripting/automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Familiarity with DoD or federal IT operations, security requirements, and infrastructure.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Oracle Linux certifications are a plus.
- Experience with DevOps/CI/CD practices and automation tools is advantageous.
Security Clearance: Must hold Secret security clearance.
