JOB SUMMARY:

A Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are initiated, planned, executed, and completed successfully on time and on budget. They will manage and control multiple small projects, which fall under a general portfolio of services (environmental compliance, environmental emergency response, environmental assessment, environmental remediation, and industrial service). They are responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, executive, control, and completion of the project while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitments, and goals of the organization. The Senior Project Manager also mentors project coordinators and contributes to the continuous improvement of project management practices across the organization.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manage project resources, timelines, and risks to ensure successful delivery.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, issues, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams, clients, and leadership.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and motivate project teams, including internal staff and external partners.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to junior project managers and coordinators.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes and tools.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of PMO methodologies and best practices.
  • Participate in post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be required, based on project needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite to include Microsoft Project, Outlook, Excel and Teams.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management and resource planning tools.
  • Ability to learn new software such as Deltek Vantage Point for time keeping and project accounting.
  • Comfortably interact with individuals of all professional levels while maintain effective working relationships.
  • Present a professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor.
  • Preserve confidentiality of sensitive information

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible Project Management experience.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification required.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: environmental compliance, environmental emergency response, environmental assessment, environmental remediation, and industrial service.
  • Experience using project management and project accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May require the ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, and manipulate (carry, lift, move) light to medium weights of 10-30 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate technical equipment, read technical information and to analyze complex data.
