Based in North Charleston, SC, you’ll be the go-to expert ensuring aircraft components are sealed, protected, and flight-ready. Your craft keeps airframes safe, reliable, and compliant with rigorous aviation standards.
A day in the life
- Review build plans, technical drawings, and specifications to plan the day’s sealing tasks.
- Prepare substrates meticulously—cleaning, masking, abrading, and conditioning surfaces to promote proper adhesion.
- Mix and apply the right sealants and coatings to seams, fasteners, access panels, and other aircraft surfaces in line with industry specifications.
- Perform in-process and final quality checks to validate coverage, cure, and overall effectiveness of each application.
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering and production to troubleshoot and resolve sealing challenges.
- Keep an orderly, safe, and compliant work area—your commitment to safety protocols sets the tone for the team.
- Record work performed and track materials used with precision and accuracy.
- Stay current on new materials, tools, and application methods as sealing technologies evolve.
What you’ll bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical coursework or certification in aircraft maintenance (or related) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with aircraft sealing or closely related sealing/coatings work.
- Strong knowledge of aviation-grade sealants, coatings, and their proper applications.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a practical, solutions-first mindset.
- Clear communicator and dependable teammate who collaborates effectively.
- Safety-focused and committed to maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
