Job Description

Job Description

We are seeking an Ambulatory EHR Analyst to own clinical documentation and ambulatory workflow configuration in our electronic health record across family medicine, OBGYN, pediatrics, and behavioral health.

You will be the bridge between our providers and the EHR. You will listen closely to clinical teams, translate their needs into well-built workflows and clear change requests, and advocate for Lunera within the governance of our shared, externally hosted EHR. You will test every change before it reaches patients, train staff so they feel confident in the system, and have a familiar, supportive presence at the elbow when it matters most.

What you will do

Own ambulatory workflows

  • Own clinical documentation workflows, order sets, preference lists, and templates for family medicine, OBGYN, pediatrics, and behavioral health.
  • Gather, document, and prioritize workflow requirements from providers and clinical staff at all three sites.
  • Prepare, submit, and track change requests through EHR host governance, and represent Lunera's requirements in host review.
  • Support behavioral health documentation workflows, including consent capture and record segmentation requirements under 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Own the pathway for capturing OBGYN ultrasound images and making them available in the patient record, in partnership with IT Operations.

Test, validate, and release with confidence

  • Test and validate host build, upgrade content, and change requests before they reach production.
  • Maintain test scripts and validation evidence showing that clinical workflows work as intended after every change.
  • Assess upgrade content for clinical impact and communicate changes to affected staff before release.
  • Participate in downtime planning, downtime procedure testing, and recovery validation.

Train and support clinical teams

  • Design and deliver role-based training for clinical staff, including onboarding for new providers and staff.
  • Provide at-the-elbow support during releases, upgrades, and periods of high demand.
  • Serve as second-tier escalation for clinical application issues raised through the service desk.
  • Maintain end-user documentation and quick reference guides for ambulatory workflows.

What you bring

  • Two or more years of experience supporting or configuring an electronic health record in an ambulatory setting.
  • Experience with Epic, eClinicalWorks, or other EHR platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering clinical requirements and translating them into system configuration or change requests.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering end-user training to clinical staff.
  • A systematic approach to testing and the discipline to document validation evidence.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in health information management, information technology, clinical discipline, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of ambulatory clinical processes and documentation practice.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and patiently with clinical staff at every level of technical comfort.
  • The ability to work within the constraints of a shared, externally hosted system and to advocate effectively within them.
  • Strong attention to detail, enough to catch configuration defects before they reach production.
  • The ability to balance competing requests from multiple service lines and communicate priorities transparently.

Preferred qualifications

  • EHR certification in an ambulatory, access, revenue cycle, or clinical documentation application.
  • Experience with Epic, eClinicalWorks, or other EHR platforms.
  • Experience with pediatric or obstetric clinical workflows.
  • Experience supporting behavioral health documentation and consent requirements.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center or other safety-net setting.
  • Prior clinical experience in an ambulatory setting.

Work environment and requirements

  • Work is performed in office and clinical settings across our Woodbridge, Dumfries, and Manassas sites.
  • Regular travel among all three clinic locations is required, along with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • The role involves extended periods at a computer, clear communication in person, by phone, and in writing, and the ability to lift and position equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • You will always protect patient privacy, in line with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 protections for behavioral health and substance use disorder records, and Lunera policy, and complete all required compliance training.
