Job Description

Job DescriptionCan you turn a sheet of glass into a fully released automotive system?

If you thrive at the intersection of design rigor and program execution, Carlex wants you to lead the release of fixed and door glass systems that integrate seamlessly with body, interior, and electrical domains. You’ll combine deep CAD expertise with cross-functional leadership to deliver right-first-time designs for OEM production.

The mission

Deliver engineered glazing solutions that comply with Carlex and OEM best practices—on time, on cost, and to spec—while supporting every critical milestone from SOR through launch and into maintenance.

What success looks like

  • You coordinate all engineering and design activity as Carlex’s SI3 DRE at General Motors.
  • Programs move efficiently from SOR award to Program Launch with robust maintenance plans.
  • DFMEAs and Design Reviews are facilitated effectively, and outcomes are captured for OEMs, program teams, and internal CFT partners.
  • 2D and 3D design data for assemblies and components is released with precision and accountability.
  • Prototype runs at glass, value-add, and component plants generate validated learning for production.
  • Pre-production and production builds at OEM sites run smoothly with your on-site support.
  • Manufacturing plants, suppliers, and OEM customers view you as the go-to technical liaison.
  • Specifications, tolerances, and design alternatives are negotiated to achieve performance, cost, and manufacturability targets.
  • PDT meetings at OEM locations and internal sessions with Program Management drive alignment and decisions.

Where you’ll operate

  • OEM facilities, off-site design centers, OEM-designated test facilities, vehicle assembly plants, and any other sites required to meet program milestones.

Technical canvas

  • Design and develop full-solid CAD (Math) models for fixed and door glass systems.
  • Integrate seamlessly with interfacing commodities: sheet metal, interior trim, electrical, and more.
