Job Description

Job Description IT Administrator / Systems Specialist
About the Opportunity

Growing manufacturer in Wixom is searching for an experienced IT Administrator to lead and manage internal technology operations. Supporting a professional office team of approximately 30 employees, our client is anticipating significant growth over the next year and needs a dependable, hands-on technologist to own day-to-day IT support, infrastructure coordination, and systems administration.

You will serve as the primary onsite technical resource for local staff. However, advanced network administration, firewalls, and complex infrastructure routing are managed by an established third-party MSP, alongside support coordination with an offshore IT team. You own the internal user experience, endpoints, and daily systems without carrying deep data center routing alone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Onsite Support: Act as the go-to technical resource for ~30 office employees, troubleshooting hardware, software, laptops, mobile devices, monitors, and peripherals.

  • Systems Administration: Manage Microsoft 365 tenant administration, user licensing, Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint access.

  • Identity & Access Management: Administer user accounts, permissions, and security policies within Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.

  • Onboarding & Asset Management: Configure and deploy hardware for new hires, track equipment inventory, and oversee software licenses.

  • Cybersecurity & Backups: Maintain endpoint security (EDR/antivirus), enforce MFA, verify routine data backup completion, and support disaster recovery planning.

  • Vendor & MSP Coordination: Partner directly with the outsourced network provider to escalate and resolve connectivity, router, switch, and infrastructure matters.

What Our Client Is Looking For

  • 5–8+ years of hands-on IT support and systems administration experience.

  • Prior background in a small-to-midsize business environment (25–75 employees) wearing multiple hats and working independently.

  • Strong practical proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration, Windows OS, and Active Directory / Entra ID.

  • Working knowledge of foundational networking concepts (Wi-Fi, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, switches, routers).

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with outside MSPs or technology vendors is a plus.

  • Strong customer-service orientation, clear communication skills, and reliability.

  • Must be able to report daily onsite to the Wixom, MI facility.

Requirements Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft 365 Certified).

  • Experience with Microsoft Intune or endpoint management tools
