Position: Data Scientist
Duration: 1 year contract + potential extensions
Location: Remote - Chicago and NYC based candidates are preferred
Interview Process: 3 rounds
- First 2 Rounds: each one a different case study and discussion
- 3rd Round: Technical assessment
Start Date: ASAP but not in enough of a rush that they will hire the first candidate that they come across, willing to take the time to find the right fit

Notes from call with manager:
- Analytics team specifically aligned to Caremark work, working on Prior Authorizations process improvements
- Project is to build a tool to digitize faxes
- By far the most important skill will be the candidates ability to work across technical and nontechnical teams, explain trade-offs, gain stakeholder buy-in, and operate with a growth mindset. They will work with another teammate and leverage previous work rather than start from scratch. If they are technically great, but not good with business tradeoffs & stakeholder communications, they aren't a good fit.
- A candidate that does not have strong communication and business acumen/ability to move the needle with business teams will not be a fit even if they are very strong technically
Must Haves:
- 5+ years of relevant experience and:

- Strong OCR experience across LLMs, cloud tools, and traditional tools such as Tesseract
- Experience with handwriting, poor-quality faxes, image artifacts, and database validation
- Understanding of current tool/data limitations and what is required to improve quality
- Strong Python and SQL; familiarity with GCP
- Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining production applications
- Strong business framing, stakeholder communication, and technical judgment
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of ambiguous projects, with limited supervision
- An outcome-oriented mindset focused on solving the business problem, not just executing a task

Day to day:
- The project is focused on reducing fax-related costs. Building a fax digitization (i.e. optical character recognition) is an important component, but it is broader than that. The person will help determine why providers send faxes, identify process or vendor improvements that could prevent them, and lead development of a production digitization solution for the faxes we continue to receive.
