Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description
The Project Manager – Sales & Service is responsible for managing customer-facing projects from order intake through completion, serving as the main point of contact between customers and internal teams. This role involves coordinating with multiple departments including Sales, Service, Engineering, and more to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer expectations. Projects may include equipment installations, rebuilds, retrofits, machine conversions, format kit conversions, maintenance kits, and customer improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Manage customer-facing projects from order intake through completion, including scope, timelines, milestones, action items, and customer commitments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate project activities across Sales, Service, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, Production Planning, Logistics, Finance, Field Service, and Customer Service.
- Track schedules, resources, materials, risks, open issues, and project status to support timely completion.
- Communicate project updates, priorities, risks, delays, and required actions to customers, internal stakeholders, and leadership.
- Escalate critical issues and help coordinate corrective actions when schedules, resources, or customer commitments are at risk.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering.
- 5 years of professional work experience in project management.
- Experience leading/managing projects and project teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Project management expertise.

- Mechanical engineering knowledge.
- Risk mitigation strategies.
- Document control proficiency.
Work Environment
The work environment operates on a Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm schedule, with the possibility of transitioning into a hybrid role. The service team comprises 20 individuals, working closely with a large sales team. The manufacturing environment is focused on tobacco products, which results in a strong tobacco smell throughout the building, and smoking is allowed in closed rooms. Candidates must be comfortable with these conditions. The team includes 24 engineers and 11 electrical specialists among a total of 120 employees. The dress code is business casual, and steel-toed boots are not required. The organization values long-term retention and offers significant growth opportunities. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of RICHMOND, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $57.69/hr.
