Location: Remote (must reside in a state where the firm has an existing office; Illinois preferred)

Type: Exempt, full-time

Base Salary: $130,000 – $180,000, plus incentive eligibility

THE OPPORTUNITY

Harrison Gray Search has partnered with a nationally recognized, fee-only, independent fiduciary wealth management firm to identify a Lead Developer – Data & AI. The firm manages tens of billions in client assets, has grown rapidly through acquisition, and is now building a unified advisor platform that brings client data, portfolio insights, tax planning, compliance, and AI-powered intelligence into a single experience. The firm's Microsoft Fabric environment is already in production, and this person will inherit, own, and extend it. This is a core platform tied directly to the firm's long-term growth strategy.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Developer – Data & AI is a hands-on, senior developer and technical leader who works closely with the Director of Data Science & AI. This person owns the existing production data pipelines that connect the firm's wealth technology ecosystem, starting with Tamarac and custodial data, into its Microsoft Azure / Fabric data platform, and drives new building, research, and exploration from there. The role provides day-to-day technical leadership to multiple offshore development teams and a small onshore team, setting direction, reviewing work, and mentoring developers so the Director can focus across multiple workstreams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inherit and take full ownership of existing production pipelines in the firm's Microsoft Fabric environment, then extend and improve them
• Build and own data pipelines integrating Tamarac and custodial data, along with platforms such as eMoney, Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, tax planning tools, and AI notetaking tools
• Design API-based and file-based ingestion patterns, including REST, SFTP, vendor and custodian extracts, and near-real-time feeds
• Deliver curated, analytics-ready datasets using dimensional and/or Data Vault-style modeling
• Establish data quality, reconciliation, monitoring, SLAs, and alerting across the platform
• Ensure secure, compliant data movement and governance, including lineage, access controls, and retention
• Provide technical leadership to multiple offshore development teams and a small onshore team, including direction-setting, code review, and mentorship
• Join regular offshore team syncs held most days (Monday–Thursday), including a late-morning Central time session, and work comfortably across offshore and onshore teams
• Research and explore new tools, patterns, and AI capabilities, and prepare structured and unstructured data to support AI/ML and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) initiatives
• Partner with BI, Wealth, Compliance, Platform, and Analytics teams to deliver shared outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)

• Experience working within a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA); banking or consulting backgrounds will not be a fit
• Hands-on Tamarac experience, including domain knowledge of custodial data and how to bring it into an enterprise data platform
• Real, production experience building, owning, and supporting data pipelines end-to-end in Microsoft Fabric
• Deep Microsoft Azure experience (AWS-only or GCP-only backgrounds will not be a fit)
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship, ideally including directing offshore development teams
• 7+ years of hands-on data engineering experience
• Strong SQL and Python skills; Spark/PySpark experience highly valued
• Track record of designing for reliability, scale, and operational ownership
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Must reside in a state where the firm has an existing office (Illinois preferred)
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer; visa sponsorship is not available

PREFERRED

• Experience integrating eMoney and/or Salesforce Financial Services Cloud data
• Applied AI engineering in production, such as RAG, semantic search/vector retrieval, prompt engineering, or agentic frameworks (CrewAI, Microsoft Agent Framework, LangGraph)

• Existing Fabric pipelines are fully owned, reliable, monitored, and consistently hitting SLAs
• Tamarac and custodial data flows cleanly and accurately into the platform
• Offshore and onshore teams deliver faster and to a higher standard under this person's technical direction
• Advisors spend less time navigating systems and more time with clients
