We are seeking a Telecom Ground/Civil Technician to become an integral part of our team! A Telecom Civil Technician installs, maintains, and repairs physical telecommunications infrastructure, such as poles, towers, cables, and cabinets, to support wireless networks and other communication systems. Responsibilities also include the installation of Telcom related ground equipment, including BBU, Ciena, Media converters, Upconverters, powerplants, GPS equipment, raycaps, and other equipment. This role involves labor-intensive field work, including digging holes, setting steel, running cables, and testing equipment to ensure optimal performance for 5G deployments and other telecom projects.
Key responsibilities include following construction plans, testing lines, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations like the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
- This role is primarily field-based, often involving outdoor work and varying conditions.
- Requires travel for out-of-town projects and working occasional overtime or weekends to meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities include:
Installation: Digging holes, setting steel, and installing telecommunications equipment like cabinets, circuit breakers, and various types of cables.
Maintenance and Repair: Splicing and repairing fiber optic and copper cables, maintaining wireless equipment, and diagnosing issues with communication lines.
Field Work: Working in the field to construct and maintain the physical infrastructure that transmits signals.
Testing and Certification: Using tools to test telecommunications lines and devices and performing acceptance tests to ensure proper functionality.
Compliance and Safety: Following safety protocols, interpreting traffic control plans, and ensuring work meets regulatory standards.
Documentation: Completing and submitting daily field reports and maintaining records of installations and maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or other related fields
- Familiarity with telecommunications equipment
- Experience with field tech operations, network construction, and basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders, and communicate with customers and supervisors.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record are necessary for the position
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (e.g., 50+ lbs) and stand for extended periods.
