Position Summary

The Network Engineer supports the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of complex network and server environments. The role supports network connectivity, remote access, server administration, backup and recovery, operating-system maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and related services across geographically dispersed locations.


Key Responsibilities

· Install, configure, maintain, repair, and upgrade complex network infrastructure and associated equipment.

· Support networks connecting multiple computing platforms, operating systems, and network topologies across geographically dispersed locations.

· Monitor and manage network performance and availability.

· Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network and infrastructure problems while minimizing disruption to critical applications and services.

· Consult with users and stakeholders to gather technical and network requirements.

· Support network-access and identity-management activities for authorized users.

· Configure and support remote network access.

· Perform network configuration management and maintain accurate infrastructure documentation.

· Evaluate network hardware and software for suitability within large and complex environments.

· Maintain fault-tolerant systems and support system backup and restore activities.

· Perform network operations and maintenance activities to maintain connectivity across supported sites.

· Support repair, maintenance, upgrades, and configuration of network hardware and associated equipment.

· Support cabling installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrades.

· Participate in disaster-recovery planning, testing, and execution.

· Perform server administration activities, including account management, operating-system administration, storage management, security, and system monitoring.

· Monitor and audit system logs and perform backup and recovery activities.

· Test and install operating-system upgrades and patches in accordance with security and change-control requirements.

· Install, test, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and configure server hardware, firmware, software, and associated equipment.

· Identify server requirements and support systems analysis.

· Create and maintain documentation supporting server testing, installation, configuration, and operation.

· Coordinate and validate infrastructure changes with appropriate technical stakeholders.

· Perform approved non-emergency disruptive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades outside normal business hours when required.


Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum of 6 years of industry experience in network engineering, network administration, systems administration, or closely related IT infrastructure work.

· Demonstrated experience installing and maintaining complex network environments.

· Experience supporting networks that connect multiple computing platforms, operating systems, and network topologies.

· Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and resolving complex network and infrastructure problems.

· Experience managing or monitoring network performance.

· Experience evaluating network hardware and software.

· Experience with system backups and recovery.

· Experience maintaining fault-tolerant systems.

· Experience with server administration, including operating systems, account management, system logs, storage, patching, and recovery.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to create and maintain accurate technical documentation.

· Ability to satisfy required personnel security, background investigation, system-access, and facility-access requirements.

· Ability to work onsite at supported locations.


Preferred Qualifications

· Advanced IT certification associated with Microsoft/Azure, Cisco, or VMware technologies.


Work Arrangement and Schedule

This is an onsite position supporting designated client facilities in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Fort Meade, Maryland. Limited situational telework may be authorized by the client when appropriate, but it is not guaranteed and should not be considered the normal work arrangement. Planned disruptive network or server maintenance may be performed outside normal business hours.
