Job Description

Job DescriptionTechnical Contract Compliance Engineer A day in this role

You start the morning with a fresh purchase order from an aerospace OEM. Before lunch, you have parsed the statement of work, pulled the referenced specs and drawings, conferred with Quality about inspection and traceability, and sketched a rough path for forming, punching, and fabrication. By afternoon, you have assessed cost and risk, flagged unclear callouts, and aligned with Operations on capacity and tooling. The result: a commitment we can keep — technically sound, compliant, manufacturable, and profitable.

What you will do

  • Analyze customer contracts, POs, SOWs, specifications, drawings, and linked technical documentation for feasibility and risk.
  • Evaluate requirements through four lenses: engineering capability, quality compliance, manufacturability, and profitability.
  • Identify gaps, conflicts, ambiguities, omissions, and atypical clauses; coordinate clarifications and resolutions with internal teams and customers.
  • Translate customer and industry requirements into clear internal and supplier flow-downs.
  • Assess manufacturability of sheet metal forming, punching, fabrication, and related processes, including tooling and process realism.
  • Review implications of material choice, geometry, tolerances, forming and punching details, production volume, and inspection/test plans.
  • Quantify labor, materials, tooling, inspection, engineering, quality, and administrative cost drivers to protect margin.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Program Management throughout review and acceptance.
  • Support compliance with customer-specific requirements and applicable standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Learn and apply MCL requirements and procedures tied to Pratt & Whitney; training available if you have not previously been certified.
  • Maintain thorough documentation and records of the contract review process; perform other related duties to advance engineering, quality, manufacturing, and business goals.

About you

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience applying engineering in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, defense, precision machining, or similar technical settings.
  • Fluent reading of engineering drawings and specifications; comfortable with configuration control and change processes.
  • Solid grasp of manufacturing processes and DFMA thinking; able to judge repeatability and efficiency of methods.
  • Quality-minded: understand inspection, documentation, traceability, certifications, and compliance impacts on operations.
  • Analytical problem solver with the ability to weigh cost, risk, and operational tradeoffs.
  • Clear communicator who navigates across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Program Management, and customers.
  • Detail-focused, able to spot conflicting or incomplete requirements and drive closure.
  • Curious and adaptable; willing to learn customer-specific processes and requirements.
  • Organized multi-tasker who can manage shifting priorities and timelines.

Preferred qualifications

  • Aerospace manufacturing background.
  • Practical experience with sheet metal punching, forming, and related fabrication.
  • Prior exposure to reviewing customer contracts, POs, SOWs, drawings, and requirement flow-downs.
  • MCL training or experience linked to Pratt & Whitney; training can be provided.
  • Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific quality systems.
  • Configuration management and change control familiarity.
  • Comfort with GD&T, material and process specs, inspection and testing methods.
  • Experience evaluating cost, capacity, tooling, equipment, labor, and other profitability factors.
  • ERP experience; Infor familiarity is a plus.

Work details

  • Work environment: Primarily on a manufacturing floor with exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and variable temperatures.
  • Physical demands: Periods of standing and walking; ability to observe equipment, tooling, processes, and product.
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday; flexibility for extended hours or weekends to support production.
  • Travel: Minimal; occasional trips for training or coordination between facilities.

Benefits may include

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company contributions
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Life and disability coverage

Tools you will use

  • ERP Software

Proficiencies

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Aerospace Manufacturing
  • Engineering Degree
  • AS9100 Experience
