DMEA supports programs that strengthen local communities, like emerging energy technologies, local renewable energy development, and the deployment of a fiber internet subsidiary, Elevate Internet.
About Us:
DMEA's service territory is in Southwest Colorado, and we serve approximately 37,000 meters and 30,000 members. We provide affordable, reliable, and safe electric service to members living and working in Montrose and Delta counties. We also provide electric service to a small portion of Gunnison County.
Data Analytics InternCompensation:
The wage for this full-time non-exempt $15.16/hour.
Job Summary:
The Data Analytics Intern will support the Data & Reporting Team in maintaining, improving, and documenting DMEA's data systems and reporting environment. This role is ideal for a student interested in data analytics, database management, business intelligence, or information systems. The intern will gain hands-on experience working with real-world utility data, reporting tools, and modern data platforms including SQL databases, Power BI, Azure, and enterprise data systems. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that improve operational efficiency, data quality, and decision-making across the organization.
Education & Experience:
- Must be actively enrolled in high school or in an accredited degree or certificate program.
- Experience with Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- No prior experience with databases, SQL, or programming is required.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications & Licenses/Certifications:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid driver's license, preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
- Interacts and represents the company in a professional manner with a variety of people, including customers, employees, and affiliated organizations.
- Learn and develop professional skills in a business environment.
- Create and update documentation for databases, reports, and systems (Scribe, GitHub, etc.).
- Help develop diagrams such as Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) to document database structures.
- Assist with maintaining and organizing data team documentation and procedures (SharePoint, FileShare, GitHub, etc.).
- Support the team in reviewing reports and helping validate data (Azure, iVue, MDM, Aclara, etc.).
Essential Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking and the use of keyboard/computer, and occasional bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Requires attention to detail; the ability to read, write and perform basic math.
- The use of office equipment including personal computers, related software, copiers and fax machines, etc.
