Job Title: Network Security Consultant / Firewall Engineer (Overnight Project)

Employment Type: Contract / 1099 Consultant

Compensation: Confirmed pay rate will be determined based on conversation and candidate availability

Schedule: Overnight Maintenance Window (Sunday Night)

Location: On-Site (Required)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Network Security Consultant for an urgent overnight engagement this Sunday night. The ideal candidate will hold active Fortinet and Palo Alto certifications and possess strong hands-on expertise in enterprise firewall failover testing and troubleshooting.

Scope of Work & Responsibilities

• Assist with live failover testing between primary and secondary circuits across enterprise firewalls.

• Monitor traffic transition, failback behaviors, and routing integrity.

• Perform real-time troubleshooting for connectivity, routing, or policy issues during the cutover/test window.

• Coordinate directly with engineering and network operations teams throughout the maintenance window.

Required Qualifications & Equipment

• Certifications (Required):

• • Fortinet NSE 4 or higher (FCSSA / FCP Network Security)

• • Palo Alto Networks Certification (PCNSA or PCNSE)

• Experience:

• • Proven experience configuring, testing, and troubleshooting Fortinet (FortiGate) and Palo Alto firewalls in high-availability / redundant circuit environments.

• • Familiarity with Cisco routing and switching environments.

• Tools & Hardware (Must Bring On-Site):

• • Dedicated technician laptop with terminal emulation software (PuTTY, SecureCRT, etc.) and active network adapters.

• • Console cables and adapters (USB-to-RJ45, DB9, standard Ethernet cables) for Fortinet, Cisco, and related hardware.

• Availability:

• • Must be immediately available to work on-site for the scheduled overnight window this Sunday night.
