Job Description
Position : GCP DevOps/ Cloud Engineer (Associate level)
Location : Dallas, TX Hybrid (3 days a week onsite & must be willing to relocate and be onsite on day 1)
Duration : Long term contract
Responsibilities
- Provides intermediate level technical support for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) engineering with minimal oversight.
- Designs, implements, and deploys custom cloud platform configuration via IaC to support and meet business needs. Identifies opportunities for improvement, escalating as necessary.
- Monitors and supports health of GCP platform through the use of monitoring tools and applications. Maintains proficient knowledge of cloud software and infrastructure platforms.
- Trains and mentors staff and IT project teams, providing guidance and consultation as required. Writes and maintains documentation for the department.
- Administers systems by actively managing patching, routine maintenance and backups to include the scheduling and execution of related tasks. Evaluating system performance and capacity in a large distributed infrastructure environment
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of total experience with 4+ years Google Cloud experience is a must have.
- Along with Terraform/Github Infrastructure as code experience.

Team responsibilities:
- The team is currently focused on building out Google Cloud Platform (GCP) capabilities.
- The primary goal is to hire someone to support day-to-day (BAU) operations and platform engineering—not a data-focused role
Why GCP:
- Vanguard has a multi-cloud strategy, already running Azure and some Google workloads.
- The focus now is on formalizing their GCP footprint, implementing governance and controls.
- There’s a growing interest in AI/LLM workloads, but this particular role is not focused on AI—it’s purely infrastructure/platform-related.
Position requirements/details:
- The new hire will be supporting the GCP landing zone and core infrastructure (networking, storage, compute).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience is critical—Terraform is the preferred tool.
