The position requires advanced skills in SharePoint site and content architecture, front-end design, user experience (UX/UI), and governance. Knowledge of Power Platform tools—Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI—is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • SharePoint Architecture and Design
    • Architect intuitive, user-friendly SharePoint environments with clear navigation, branding, metadata models, and permissions.
    • Organize and structure content in a way that promotes ease of use, searchability, and alignment with operational workflows.
    • Design, develop, and maintain SharePoint Online intranet pages, libraries, and tools used across the Engineering Department.
    • Apply UX/UI design principles to enhance the usability and visual appeal of SharePoint portals.
    • Collaborate with communications and process teams to translate information into accessible and well-structured SharePoint content.
    • Develop custom site templates, web parts, and layouts using SharePoint Framework (SPFX) and other supported technologies.
    • Architect, design, and develop new applications and workflows in SharePoint Online and Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Pages.
  • Administration and Maintenance
    • Update and maintain internal Engineering platforms including the EOL (Engineering Online) SharePoint intranet portal.
    • Administer user access and permissions within SharePoint Online, ensuring role-based controls and auditability.
    • Maintain and support SharePoint libraries, site collections, and workflows including migration and optimization tasks.
    • Troubleshoot issues, perform updates, and ensure system performance and security compliance.
    • Administer, support, and enhance existing SharePoint/Office 365 applications and workflows, including SPFX apps, SharePoint Designer workflows, PowerShell scripts, Power Apps, Power Automate flows, Power BI reports, and Infowise Forms and Actions.
    • Assist with ticket resolution as part of the Engineering Application Support Hotline.
  • Documentation and Collaboration
    • Provide detailed input and technical specifications for all system configurations, templates, customizations, and workflows; collaborate with the Technical Writer and other team members to ensure accurate documentation for support and future reference.
    • Create support guides, training materials, and user-facing documentation to ensure adoption and self-service.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, end users, and analysts to gather requirements and refine SharePoint content strategies.
    • Share best practices and findings through team presentations or internal knowledge sessions.

Required Education, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience with SharePoint Online site design, development, and architecture.
  • Proven experience developing and supporting SharePoint intranet sites, including navigation, layouts, templates, metadata, and permissions.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint Framework (SPFX), PowerShell, and SharePoint administration tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of UX/UI principles for internal portals and digital communications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Strong attention to detail and a user-focused mindset in designing and implementing content solutions.
  • Ability to balance technical development with communication and visual presentation needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Technical Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with legacy systems such as OpenText and SharePoint Designer workflows.
  • Experience working with branding, content strategy, or digital communications in an internal or intranet environment.
  • Experience working with public agencies, utilities, or other large organizations with formal content governance.
  • Process Automation and Business Intelligence, automation through Power Automate workflows. Experience with Power Apps to supplement SharePoint tools.
  • It is highly desirable that candidates provide examples of previous SharePoint work, such as intranet site designs, workflows, templates or other relevant projects, to demonstrate their expertise in SharePoint architecture, development, and UX/UI design.
