Summary

Toyoda Gosei North America (headquartered in Troy, MI) has an opening for a Test Technician in the Research and Technical Center department. The Test Technician is responsible for assembly, maintenance, qualification, and repair of Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs), also known as Crash Test dummies. TGRTC’s ATD group supports automotive safety testing across several test cells within the facility, ensuring high-quality data collection for the advancement of new technologies and Safety Systems for Toyoda Gosei (TG) North America Corporation (TGNA) and TGNA Manufacturing Companies (AMCs).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Use defined procedures to disassemble, inspect, and reassemble Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs), also known as Crash Test Dummies
• Install and qualify ATD instrumentation, including accelerometers, load cells, and potentiometers
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair ATD instrumentation
• Prepare ATDs for daily testing, including mechanical assembly inspection, instrumentation inspection, and delivery to test cells
• Ensure ATD instrumentation is regularly calibrated, and calibration records are organized and stored properly
• Work collaboratively with Crash Safety Team and other technicians to meet laboratory testing objectives
• Drive optimization by being actively engaged in continuous improvement efforts (kaizen)
• This role requires the completion of other duties as assigned


Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Certifications and Education

• Associate Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent years of experience is required

Experience

• 2 to 4 Years of experience with small electronics or working in a test laboratory is required
• Ability to disassemble and reassemble mechanical systems
• Practical knowledge of, and experience with transducers, basic circuits and wiring harnesses
• Ability to solder and repair small electronics and sensors

Technology Competencies

• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suites 2016 or newer is required
• Experience with DTS Data Acquisition hardware and software preferred
