Job Description

Senior Project Architect ($125-140k)

A growing Texas-based architecture firm is seeking a Senior Project Architect to lead projects from design through construction while helping guide teams, consultants, and clients through every stage of delivery.

This position is ideal for an experienced architect who can translate design intent into coordinated construction documents, lead multidisciplinary teams, navigate permitting and construction administration, and maintain strong client relationships while keeping projects aligned with schedule, budget, and quality expectations.

Performance Objectives

  • Translate design intent into coordinated construction documents, specifications, and construction administration deliverables that keep projects on schedule and within established fees.
  • Lead project teams and consultants from concept through occupancy, facilitating coordination meetings and resolving issues before they affect schedule or construction.
  • Manage permitting and AHJ coordination while maintaining current knowledge of applicable building codes and review requirements.
  • Participate in job-site visits, review submittals and RFIs, and document changes to help ensure the completed work reflects the approved design intent.
  • Mentor architects and designers, delegate responsibilities clearly, and maintain strong documentation and quality standards across the team.
  • Partner with project leadership on schedules, staffing, and resource planning to support efficient project delivery.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Environment & Resources

You will work within a collaborative architecture studio alongside architects, interior designers, project managers, and consultants.

The firm utilizes Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and established internal design and documentation standards.

Travel to project sites and client meetings may be required. The firm has multiple Texas offices and a growing portfolio across education, commercial, civic, and related project types.

Essential Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program.
  • Current architectural registration in Texas or ability to obtain reciprocal Texas registration.
  • 8+ years of professional experience within an architecture firm.
  • 3+ years of experience leading project teams through design, documentation, permitting, and construction.
  • Proven ability to coordinate consultants and produce complete, accurate construction documents.
  • Experience managing AHJ approvals and permitting processes.
  • Strong construction administration experience, including RFIs, submittals, site observations, and contractor coordination.
  • Experience with K-12, higher education, commercial, civic, or similar project types preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and related architectural production tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor staff, resolve project challenges, and deliver quality work under deadline.

Role Selling Points

  • Growing firm: Join an expanding architecture practice where experienced project leaders can have meaningful influence on both projects and team development.
  • Project ownership: Lead work from early design through documentation and construction rather than being limited to one phase.
  • Leadership opportunity: Mentor architects and designers while helping strengthen project delivery standards.
  • Meaningful project portfolio: Work on education, civic, commercial, and community-focused projects throughout Texas.
  • Collaborative environment: Work closely with project leadership, consultants, clients, and internal design teams.
  • Professional growth: Opportunity to expand your leadership responsibilities as the firm continues to grow.
  • Competitive benefits: Compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, profit-sharing, and paid time off.

If you are an experienced Senior Project Architect looking for greater project ownership, team leadership, and the opportunity to contribute to a growing Texas architecture practice, this position offers an excellent next step.
