IP/MPLS engineer (Fiber Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, and Ciena)(Onsite Houston or Dallas, TX)

Job Description

Core responsibilities

\n

\n
• Architect and troubleshoot IP/MPLS networks (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, traffic engineering, HA design)

\n

• Lead network migrations/upgrades with minimal service disruption

\n

• Perform capacity planning and proactive health reviews

\n

• Mentor junior engineers and lead incident escalations

\n

• Maintain design docs, standards, and operational procedures

\n

• Participate in on call/change management

\n

\n

Required qualifications

\n

\n
• 10–15 years in carrier/service-provider networking

\n

• Expert-level MPLS (LDP, RSVP-TE or segment routing, L2/L3 VPNs, carrier Ethernet)

\n

• Deep BGP experience (policy, communities, route reflectors, peering)

\n

• Strong IS-IS/OSPF in large, routed networks

\n

• Hands-on with Juniper, Cisco, Nokia, and Ciena in production

\n

• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

\n

\n

Nice-to-haves

\n

\n
• Optical transport knowledge (ROADM, DWDM, coherent optics)

\n

• Automation/scripting (Python, Ansible, NETCONF/YANG, gNMI)

\n

• Certifications: JNCIP/JNCIE, CCNP/CCIE-SP, Nokia NRS, Ciena

\n

• Experience with segment routing, EVPN, DCI, or backbone expansion

\n
