Come join us!SmokemasterSeltzer's Smokehouse is looking for our next Smokemaster as we head into a new chapter in our amazing story! This isn't your typical manufacturing job. As a Smokemaster, you'll play an essential role in creating traditionally smoked products by carefully managing our smokehouses, tending wood fires and monitoring each batch throughout the smoking process.With a renewed vision from our next generation CEO, the iconic Seltzer's brand is preparing for national expansion through innovation, creativity, and forward thinking.Role: Reporting to the Smokehouse Supervisor, you'll combine hands-on craftsmanship with precision-monitoring temperatures, measuring pH levels and maintaining accurate production records to ensure every product meets our high standards for safety, quality and flavor.Responsibilities:Monitor and record smokehouse and product temperatures every two hoursTake pH readings and determine when additional wood is neededTend and maintain wood-burning smokehouse firesVerify the accuracy of smokehouse temperature probesCalibrate and properly maintain the pH meterTransport wood from outside storage and maintain an adequate supply for productionAccurately complete required food safety and production documentationSupport sanitation activities on second and third shifts when neededFollow all food safety, food defense, GMP and workplace safety proceduresCommunicate concerns or unusual readings promptly to the Smokehouse SupervisorWhat We're Looking ForDependable, detail-oriented and comfortable working independentlyStrong observation, problem-solving and recordkeeping skillsClear and effective communicationComfortable using basic computers and production technologyAble to work in environments with varying temperaturesAble to safely perform the physical duties associated with transporting and handling woodFlexible and willing to work evenings, nights, weekends or holidays when production requires itReliable transportation and consistent attendancePreferred-but Not RequiredPrevious food manufacturing, production or warehouse experienceExperience using forklifts or pallet jacksFamiliarity with temperature monitoring, pH testing or food safety proceduresExperience is helpful, but reliability, attention to detail and a willingness to learn are what matter most. We'll teach the right person how to master the process.We look for employees who effective, clear, and concise communication skills, computer/technology literacy and problem-solving skills. You must have day to day flexibility and be able to work in varying temperatures.
