The Systems Engineer, Lead position involves designing, developing, evaluating, and modifying end-to-end solutions, systems, and products for customers. This role requires working on the R&D team alongside software developers as a Platform SME, addressing hardware, hypervisor, Kubernetes, orchestration, deployment scenarios, high availability, and software packaging. Responsibilities include building lab systems, loading software, configuring, integrating, verifying, and troubleshooting solutions in a lab environment or customer site using various products. This position is based in The Colony, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evaluate end-to-end customer solutions.
- Load software, configure, integrate, verify, and troubleshoot solutions in lab environments or customer sites using internal and third-party products.
- Serve as a technical or SME interface to the customer for specific areas.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to design, implement, and function test the products.
- Participate in product releases, feature implementations, requirements gathering, and test tools development.
- Lead a small customer project team of engineers.
- Work with suppliers of hardware and software as needed.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Proactively keep skillsets up to date and take initiative.
- Interact with managers, project managers, vendors, and others to meet project schedules.
- Interface with Customer Support to ensure customer issues are handled promptly and accurately.
Essential Skills
- BS required in an engineering discipline related to telecommunications.
- 8-10+ years of experience in an engineering discipline related to telecommunications.
- Excellent knowledge of virtual environments and software networking using applications such as ESXi, Hyper-V, Docker, or Linux KVM.
- Excellent knowledge of installation and configuration of servers, routers, and switches.
- Experience with wireless technologies and related protocols is a plus (LTE, GSM).
- Demonstrated experience leading or participating in new product development activities.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver with high quality.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with ESXi, VMware, Kubernetes, and networking.
- Bachelor's Degree is highly preferred.
- Certification in CCNA is a plus.
- Understanding of RKE2 deployment and security hardening in Kubernetes.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a team of 10-12 members, working alongside software engineers. The role requires collaboration and effective communication within the team to ensure successful project outcomes.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of The Colony, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.50 - $77.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
