Position Summary
Junior coaches will deliver best-in-class on-ice instructional experiences to participants of the skating school and learn to skate programs. They must be able to embrace and work within a collaborative team-coaching environment. Junior coaches will provide professional and exemplary customer service to all guests, employees, and the community in adherence with Wollman Rink policies, rules and regulations to ensure a safe and world class environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide ice skating instruction to students as young as 3 years old using the Learn to Skate USA program, effectively instructing students in all elements of class level.
· Maintain a positive, creative, upbeat class environment using age-appropriate games and props to keep students moving and engaged.
· Encourage appropriate behavior of students with an emphasis on safety and community/team building.
· Actively participate in mentorship with senior coaching staff and program directors.
· Deliver outstanding customer service to all guests of Wollman Rink.
· Serve as an expert on skate school programs and arena offerings.
· Assist with preparation prior to class start time, including tying skates, and setting up lesson areas.
· Partner with staff, clientele and community partners, to maintain a positive, productive atmosphere conducive to the advancement of skating in New York City.
· Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Must have intermediate to advanced ice-skating skills, preferably with a background in figure skating or hockey.
· Prior experience working with children in a recreational, sporting or academic setting preferred.
· Individuals who have a talent for connecting with very young children are strongly encouraged to apply.
· Must be at least 16 years old.
· Must be highly reliable and punctual.

Certifications
· Must hold current Learn to Skate USA coaching membership and compliance certification or be willing to obtain prior to season opening (mid-November).
· Must be US Center for SafeSport compliant or willing to obtain prior to season opening.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Work Environment
This position generally requires that work be performed from the Wollman Rink offices, but attendance at events taking place at the rink or offsite, including on weekends and/or holidays, may be required.
