Job Description

🚀 Firmware Engineer (Embedded Systems / Validation Focus)

📍 Chelmsford, MA (Hybrid)

We’re partnering with a leading engineering-driven organization that develops safety‑critical, communication-based embedded products used in real-world industrial environments.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving in existing systems — not building from scratch, but testing, analyzing, and improving firmware that’s already in production.

If you like debugging complex embedded systems, running tests, and fixing real issues that impact shipped products, this will be a strong fit.

💡 What You’ll Do

  • Run automated tests on embedded firmware in production systems
  • Perform static code analysis and identify code-level issues
  • Conduct network and security testing (Wireshark or similar tools)
  • Debug and fix issues in existing embedded C/C++ code
  • Analyze test results and drive issue resolution and remediation
  • Support updates to safety-critical, communication-based devices
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams while owning your tasks
  • Operate independently after initial ramp-up with minimal supervision

What They’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded systems / firmware engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with debugging and troubleshooting
  • Exposure to firmware testing, validation, or QA environments
  • Experience with static code analysis tools (LDRA, Parasoft, SonarQube, Coverity, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems and hardware interaction
  • Ability to analyze issues and implement practical fixes quickly
  • Comfortable working independently in an execution-focused role

Nice to Have

  • Experience with networking concepts (TCP/IP, packet analysis)
  • Familiarity with Wireshark or similar tools
  • Exposure to CI/CD or automated test pipelines
  • Background in safety-critical or regulated systems

🎯 Why This Role Stands Out

  • Work on real, shipped products — not just prototypes
  • Focus on problem-solving, debugging, and impact, not just coding
  • High-priority initiatives with clear business and compliance impact
  • Independent, hands-on work with minimal bureaucracy
  • Opportunity to step into a role where you can contribute immediately

What Makes Someone Successful Here

  • You’ve already worked on testing + debugging firmware, not just building it
  • You’re comfortable running tools, analyzing issues, and fixing problems
  • You prefer execution and impact over architecture and design discussions

👉 If you enjoy getting into real systems, finding problems, and fixing them fast, this role is built for you.
