Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Master Data Specialist to own the creation and maintenance of master data that flows into SAP systems. This is a hands-on, back-end, data-focused role supporting project asset setup and ensuring alignment with accounting and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong business partner who executes with precision and proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and govern master data within the master data system and ensure accurate integration into SAP ECC, including Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) setup.
- Intake and process work requests submitted through the SAP FICO request tool; validate request details and translate requirements into accurate system entries.
- Ensure master data aligns with accounting principles, project deliverables, and audit traceability requirements.
- Participate in daily information and validation discussions with requestors and cross-functional partners to confirm and clarify requirements.
- Troubleshoot data inconsistencies and escalate issues as needed; collaborate with finance and data governance stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
- Identify, propose, and implement process improvements to increase data accuracy, efficiency, and turnaround time.
- Document master data processes, business rules, and exceptions; support training and knowledge transfer to team members and part-time resources.
- Support a controlled, repeatable data governance approach while adhering to applicable compliance and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of hands-on master data experience, ideally within SAP environments.
- Practical experience working with SAP ECC and a solid understanding of WBS structures and their role in supporting accounting processes.
- Familiarity with master data tools such as MDO or comparable master data creation and maintenance systems.
