Job Description

Project Overview:

To provide software engineering and application development services within the department of commerce in accordance with its mission.

a. To evaluate and continue development of existing statistical programs handling production survey sample selection, data QA/QC analysis, and point estimation investigation and adjustment.

b. To develop statistical programs to implement and evaluate new survey designs and estimation methods.

c. To work with the existing team to evaluate and implement possible migration of legacy 9.4 processes to Viya.

d. To develop new information and visual analytics products.

Primary Responsibilities:

a. Communicate with the existing team on priorities and potential projects.

b. Review existing programs, documentation, and data structures.

c. Identify and resolve issues in existing Viya and 9.4 code.

d. Document changes

e. Suggest additional improvements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

a. Proficient in data manipulation, data management, data visualizations, and statistical analysis using SAS products.

b. Required skills:

i. SAS 9.4 general proficiency

ii. Stat and Survey procedures

iii. SAS Proc SQL

iv. SAS macros and macro variables


Desired Skills & Qualifications:

i. SAS/ACCESS Interface to ODBC

ii. Oracle or other relational databases

iii. SAS admin

iv. SAS Viya

v. R programming

v. Knowledge of best practices and SAS coding standards

vi. Great communication skills for collaboration with team members (virtual & written).

vii. Self-motivated


Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree
