Working under the direction of the Low Voltage Project Manager/Estimator, the APM takes ownership of assigned project activities from preconstruction through closeout. This role combines project coordination with estimating, procurement, cost tracking, and field support, with increasing responsibility as skills and experience develop.

  • Working knowledge of commercial low voltage construction, with experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, fiber optics, or electronic security systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and low voltage system requirements.
  • Understanding of project budgets, labor tracking, material procurement, change orders, and construction schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with clients, field crews, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook; familiarity with Bluebeam and estimating software (preferred).
  • Degree in Construction Management or a related field, or low voltage trade experience (preferred).

What You Will Do

  • Partner with the Low Voltage Project Manager/Estimator to support project execution from preconstruction through closeout and manage assigned scopes or smaller projects under the PM’s direction.
  • Assist with drawing and specification reviews, quantity takeoffs, vendor quotes, scope comparisons, and preparation of estimates and proposals.
  • Assist with project setup, budgets, cost codes, labor budgets, schedules of values, and procurement plans.
  • Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, drawing revisions, and project logs; communicate approved information to field crews and other project team members.
  • Coordinate material and equipment procurement, purchase orders, lead times, and deliveries to support project schedules and field productivity.
  • Work with foremen and field technicians to coordinate installation activities, manpower needs, schedule updates, and resolution of project issues.
  • Track labor, materials, commitments, and other project costs; assist with monthly forecasts and reports, and bring budget or schedule concerns to the PM promptly.
  • Document scope changes and assist with pricing, preparing, and tracking change orders, including supporting labor, material, and vendor costs.
  • Assist with billing projections, progress billing, invoice review, and supporting financial documentation in coordination with the PM and accounting team.
  • Attend project meetings, document decisions and action items, and visit job sites as needed to verify progress and support field coordination.
  • Coordinate permitting, inspections, system testing, commissioning, and customer training with the project team, vendors, and subcontractors as applicable.
  • Collect and organize as-built drawings, cable and fiber test results, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, inspection records, and punch-list items for complete and timely closeout.
  • Support company safety and quality expectations, communicate concerns promptly, and maintain accurate project records.
