Job DescriptionSummary: This position is responsible for the leadership and execution of operations, optimization, and oversight of instrumentation, automation, and low voltage electrical work. This position leads by example and alongside operations staff with the identification and repair of oil-field instrumentation and Cygnet Automation systems. An ideal candidate will be trustworthy, driven, pragmatic, and a self-starter. In addition, a successful candidate will be a forward thinker and challenge status quos and be aligned with jade owls' growth vision. Candidate must be self-motivated and passionate to perform job duties with little supervision. Candidate is also required to have strong interpersonal and communications skills as well as strong documentation skills. Responsibilities:

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot field instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
  • Low voltage electrical and instrumentation wiring.
  • Perform loop checks and verify signal integrity from field devices to control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA).
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control systems.
  • Ensure all instrumentation complies with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain documentation for instrument calibration, maintenance logs, and inspection reports.

Automation Responsibilities

  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider) and RTUs.
  • Maintain and optimize SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control of field operations. Cygnet experience is required.
  • Implement automation upgrades and assist in commissioning new systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement control strategies.
  • Ensure cybersecurity best practices are followed in automation systems.

General Field Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and perform corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with operations, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Maintain compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards and company policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.



Education and Experience

  • Required: 2-year Instrumentation or Automation Tech Degree
  • Required:Experience with Cygnet Automation.
  • Required:Expertise with programming of PLCs (Allen Bradley)
  • Expertise in well-work operations is required.
  • Experience and understanding of facility operations is also required.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity to provide outside-the-box ideas and solutions
  • Strong desire to continuously research and implement ideas to improve activities



Schedule and Structure:

  • Salary
  • Stillwater, OK
  • 5x2 schedule with on-call weekends.
  • Some travel to Wyoming may be required
