POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise data backup and disaster recovery systems to ensure secure, resilient, and rapidly recoverable information assets. This position requires advanced technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and the ability to work independently while safeguarding data against cyber threats, hardware failures, and operational risks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Architect, deploy, and maintain scalable backup infrastructures for both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Evaluate and address risks related to data backup and disaster recovery; develop and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Manage tape out strategies, including scheduling, off-site storage, and secure archival procedures.
- Maintain and support the physical infrastructure for backup operations, including storage arrays and tape libraries.
- Monitor, test, and verify backup and restore processes to ensure data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Serve as a technical expert for backup technologies, collaborating with internal teams to apply industry best practices.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for backup systems, processes, and recovery plans.
Special Requirements:
- Up to 10% of international and or domestic travel.
- Fluency in Mandarin is a plus.
GUIDELINES (ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS):
- Advanced hands-on experience with Veeam and Zerto backup and disaster recovery platforms.
- Expertise in VMware, NAS, Pure Storage, Dell Compute, Quantum DXi.
- Experience with cloud-based ecosystems, including Azure, AWS, GCP.
- Strong understanding of backup risks, including cyber threats, physical hazards, and human error, with proven mitigation strategies.
- Expertise in tape management processes and physical media handling.
- Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity and high availability.
- Proficiency in supporting physical backup infrastructure and related networking.
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain operational continuity without direct supervision.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Expert level knowledge of Active Directory, DNS.
- Experience with scripting: Powershell, Python, Ansible.
- Preferred: Experience with compliance frameworks such as GDPR and HIPAA; familiarity with scripting or automation for backup administration; certifications in Veeam, Zerto, or related technologies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required; equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience will be considered.
- 7 + years of professional experience in enterprise backup and disaster recovery environments.
