Lead Java Developer – Onsite
Location: White Plains, NY
Work Arrangement: 4 Days Onsite / Week

Job Overview
Lead-level candidate will also provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and drive best practices across the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support scalable, highly available software applications.
- Write and review production-quality Java code.
- Design and develop Java/JEE-based microservices and REST APIs.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, architecture, and development plans.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other software engineers.
- Promote best practices around software design, automated testing, security, reliability, observability, and DevOps.
- Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, Delivery, and Operations teams.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation and cloud-native development practices.
- Help evaluate and responsibly adopt AI-assisted software engineering tools and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional Java software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, JEE, and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience developing microservices and REST APIs.
- Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Strong SQL, relational database, and data-modeling knowledge.
- Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
- Strong understanding of JSON, OAuth, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing and delivering large-scale, highly available applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working in Agile or structured software development environments.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Additional Requirements
- Previous technical leadership experience supporting a team of at least 3 software engineers.
- Strong solution-design and architectural decision-making experience.
- Experience mentoring developers and driving engineering best practices.
- Ability to communicate technical risks, dependencies, tradeoffs, and decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud-native architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience with automated delivery, DevOps, observability, and production operations.
- Experience with AI-assisted software engineering tools and methodologies.
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, automotive, financial services, or other consumer-facing digital platforms.
