Position Overview
Southwest LAN Connections, LLC is hiring an experienced telecommunications tower climber whom we will train in microwave, millimeter-wave, fixed wireless, fiber, and network infrastructure systems.
We are primarily seeking an experienced tower climber who can work safely and independently on communication structures.
Unlike repetitive carrier buildouts, our projects involve varied structures, customers, environments, and technologies. You will begin by applying your existing tower-climbing and antenna-installation experience. We will then train you to install, align, commission, test, and troubleshoot microwave, millimeter-wave, fixed wireless, fiber, and network systems.
Compensation and Benefits
· $29.00–$38.00 per hour, based on demonstrated experience. Starting pay is based primarily on tower-climbing experience, safety qualifications, installation capability, leadership experience, and any existing microwave or wireless background.
· $2,500 sign-on bonus for eligible experienced hires with qualifying professional tower-climbing experience. Eligibility and payment terms will be explained during the hiring process.
· Company vehicle.
· Health Reimbursement Arrangement.
· 401(k) retirement plan.
· Paid vacation.
· Paid holidays.
· Company-paid training and certification opportunities.
· Career development may progress from tower technician to microwave and wireless technician, lead technician, field supervisor, or project manager.
What You Will Do
You will begin by applying your existing tower-climbing and telecommunications installation experience. Company-paid training will be provided in microwave, fixed wireless, millimeter-wave, fiber, networking, and related communications technologies. As you complete training and demonstrate proficiency, your responsibilities will expand accordingly.
· Perform professional tower climbing using required fall-protection systems and safe climbing practices.
· Install antennas, mounts, RF cabling, fiber, Ethernet cabling, grounding, surge protection, cabinets, and network equipment.
· Install, align, commission, test, troubleshoot and maintain point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless networks.
· Install and support licensed microwave, fixed wireless broadband, millimeter-wave, SCADA, LoRaWAN and related communications systems.
· Perform antenna alignment, RF optimization, wireless-performance testing, and field validation.
· Troubleshoot microwave radios, wireless communications equipment, fiber-optic systems, Ethernet infrastructure, and related connectivity issues.
· Maintain high standards for safety, workmanship, job-site organization, and customer communication.
Required Qualifications
· At least 3 years of professional experience climbing telecommunications towers.
· Ability to work safely from towers, rooftops, aerial lifts, ladders, and elevated work platforms and identify unsafe climbing conditions.
· Familiarity with personal fall-arrest systems.
· Experience installing antennas, RF and Ethernet cabling and grounding.
· Ability to read installation drawings, equipment documentation, and project instructions.
· Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
· Ability to pass applicable pre-employment drug screening, background screening, and customer-access requirements.
· Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Willingness to travel throughout Arizona and occasionally work overnight or out of town.
· Willingness to work occasional extended hours, weekends or adjusted schedules when required by project deadlines, outages, or customer access.
· Clear verbal and written communication.
· Professional workmanship and customer service.
· Ability to work independently or as part of a field crew.
