Position Overview:
\n
Supports Stuart Rush's product compliance function across domestic content requirements, hazardous chemical/materials regulations, and product certifications. Partners with New Product Development (NPD) on certifications for new products (both self-certified and third-party certified) and with Sustaining Engineering to maintain and update certifications on products already in the field.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform analyses that support domestic content compliance requests under laws such as the Build America, Buy America Act (BABA), the Buy American Act (BAA), and applicable state-level requirements, working under the direction of the Director of New Product Development.
- Respond to customer and distributor requests about hazardous chemical and materials compliance, issuing statements of compliance and letters of intent as needed.
- Partner with Operations to build a proactive hazardous chemical and materials compliance program — including a restricted substances list (RSL) and supplier declaration process — to stay ahead of regulations like Prop 65, PFAS, and REACH rather than responding only when a customer asks.
- Work with NPD engineers to scope, plan, and execute product certifications for new designs, from declarations of conformity such as CE marking under applicable EU rules to third-party certification through agencies such as UL, CSA, SGS, TÜV, and Bureau Veritas.
- Work with Sustaining Engineering to keep certifications current on released products, including re-certification triggered by design changes, standards updates, or manufacturing site changes.
- Track and interpret evolving standards relevant to industrial and entertainment hoist equipment.
- Maintain compliance documentation and records within the SolidWorks EPDM/PDM controlled document system.
- Flag and help resolve supplier-driven compliance risks, such as component substitutions that could affect certification validity.

Required Qualifications:
\n

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline plus 4+ years of hands-on experience in at least one compliance domain — hazardous materials and chemical regulations such as Prop 65, SDS, PFAS, or REACH; domestic content rules such as BABA, BAA, or state-level requirements; or product safety certification, whether through declarations of conformity like CE marking or third-party certification through NRTLs and other certification bodies.
- Without a bachelor's degree, 8+ years of equivalent hands-on experience in the same domains, backed by relevant certifications, will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong written communication skills for customer-facing compliance correspondence.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and sales and distribution teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
\n
- \n
- Direct experience working with a third-party certification body — a U.S. NRTL such as UL or CSA, or an international certification body or Notified Body such as TÜV, SGS, or Bureau Veritas — on test plan development, surveillance audits, corrective actions, or certification renewals.
- Experience with rigging, hoist, crane, or other industrial or mechanical equipment.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks EPDM/PDM or similar controlled-document systems.
- Exposure to international certification or RF marking schemes, such as ANATEL, SRRC, or ICASA.
