Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Preconstruction

  • Review project plans, specifications, and scopes across roofing, siding, gutters, decking, carpentry, and storm restoration.
  • Conduct detailed takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment, factoring in Michigan-specific conditions (e.g., freeze-thaw cycles).
  • Prepare competitive, precise proposals using industry-standard software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, ProEst, Xactimate).
  • Engage with clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to refine scope and pricing; recommend value-engineered alternatives.
  • Maintain and update an internal cost database to track pricing trends and improve estimate accuracy over time.

Project Management & Execution

  • Develop comprehensive project schedules and progress trackers aligned with estimates.
  • Oversee jobsite activity: coordinate resources, supervise workmanship, ensure quality and safety compliance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for clients, vendors, HOAs, and insurers, particularly for storm damage and insurance-related claims.
  • Monitor budgets, labor forecasts, and project margins—address deviations proactively.
  • Prepare regular dashboards and reports on project status, KPIs, risk mitigation, and performance metrics.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in both construction estimating and project management, with demonstrable success in residential and commercial environments. Senior-level exposure required.
  • Proven expertise in roofing systems (asphalt shingle, flat, metal, low-slope), siding (including James Hardie), gutters, decks, and exterior carpentry.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction specs, and codes relevant to Southeast Michigan.
  • High proficiency with estimating and project management software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, ProEst, Xactimate, Buildertrend, Procore).
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, scheduling, and risk-assessment competencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication—with ability to negotiate, influence, and lead diverse stakeholders.
  • Skilled relationship-builder capable of working with homeowners, business owners, insurance agents, and subcontractor networks.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple simultaneous projects while quality-driving and deadline-focused.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; certifications (e.g., CPE) are a plus.
