Job Title: Configuration Manager
Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116

Role Summary
- Serve as the Configuration Manager within the IT Service Management (ITSM) organization
- Establish, govern, and continuously improve the Configuration Management process
- Ensure Configuration Management practices align with ITIL standards
- Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of Configuration Items (CIs)
- Support effective Incident, Change, Problem, Asset, and FinOps Management
- Own and manage the Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
- Collaborate across functional and technical teams to ensure reliable service delivery
- Drive continuous improvement of Configuration Management maturity and CMDB health
- Integrate and manage Azure resources within a third-party CMDB (Ivanti Neurons for ITSM)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Configuration Management policies, procedures, and standards
- Ensure compliance with ITIL best practices and policies
- Own and govern the CMDB, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Define and enforce Configuration Item (CI) identification, classification, control, and reporting standards
- Collaborate with Change, Incident, Problem, and FinOps teams to support service management processes
- Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Security, and Application teams to collect and maintain CI data
- Integrate Azure cloud resources into the CMDB to support operational and financial visibility
- Monitor, audit, and validate configuration data to ensure data quality and reliability
- Establish, track, and report KPIs and metrics for Configuration Management and CMDB health
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to IT teams on Configuration Management best practices
- Support IT governance, risk management, audit, and compliance initiatives
Required Qualifications
- ITIL Foundation certification
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience designing and implementing Configuration Management policies and systems in enterprise environments
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience implementing and managing a CMDB with Azure resource integration
- Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience with Ivanti Neurons for ITSM CMDB capabilities
- Proven experience in Configuration Management within an ITIL-aligned ITSM framework
- Strong understanding of ITIL v3 and/or ITIL v4 processes, including:
- Configuration Management
- Change Management
- Incident Management
- Problem Management
- Hands-on experience with CMDB tools, including CI class modeling and discovery tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL Intermediate or Expert-level certification
- Experience with automation tools for Configuration Management
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and GCP
- Experience with automation, discovery tooling, and scripting (PowerShell, Python)
- Familiarity with audit and compliance frameworks
