Position Summary and Purpose: The Quality Assurance Manager develops, implements, and periodically evaluates a program to ensure the organization’s production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization. This position will report to the Director of Regulatory & Quality Assurance
Essential Functions

- Maintain Quality Assurance documentation and programs related to BRC requirements and audits
- Collaborate with management to draft acceptable quality standards
- Develop and implement quality standard testing and evaluation processes
- Facilitate communication among production divisions and management
- Assess test results and approves recommended changes
- Identify and analyzes issues, and defects; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues
- Develop raw material standards, testing methods, and procedures by studying manufacturing and engineering requirements
- Review quality assurance documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance
- Conduct audits, recommends changes and implements improvements
- Support and/or participate in third-party audits, customer inspections, and government regulatory inspections.
- Periodically report status of quality assurance and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies
- Direct and oversee daily workflow of quality assurance department and supervisory staff
- Manage quality assurance staff results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train staff
- Thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production in the food industry
- Ability to effectively communicate with all colleagues, levels of management, vendors, and customers
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, as well as talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to regularly use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and climb stairs. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull office and lab products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.
Working conditions
The position works in an office, lab, and warehouse setting and has prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and standard lab equipment such as printers, allergen testing kits, pipettes, scales, and meters. The noise level in the work environment may often be loud.
Travel
Travel to local worksites during the business day may be required
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of related experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory position
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- 8+ years of related experience with 5 years in a supervisory position
- PCQI Certification
- HAACP Certification
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
- Certified Quality Auditor
