Job Title: Technical Specialist II-Part Time
Grade: 20
Salary: $35,806-$37,987 (this is the 50% salary)
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part time Technical Specialist position. We are seeking a Technical Specialist to support a statewide Individual Placement and Support (IPS) initiative focused on expanding employment services for individuals with serious mental health conditions. The analyst will lead data processing, dashboard creation, and visual analytics that help drive continuous quality improvement and promote equity across programs.
This role requires strong technical skills in data wrangling and visualization, along with the ability to collaborate with researchers, program staff, and external stakeholders to communicate insights clearly.
The role involves design, programming and implementation of a secure web-based platform documenting training, technical assistance, implementation and outcomes of a highly structured program for providing employment services to individuals with serious mental health conditions. Additionally, the Specialist will develop sophisticated data visualization dashboards and reports.
This is a part-time position with 50% FTE.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data Processing & Management:
- Extract, clean, and organize data from REDCap, Airtable, and supplemental Excel files
- Maintain and update a centralized data warehouse for all metrics
- Develop automated pipelines to validate and transform data for reporting cycles
- Collaborate with implementation team to identify and track data quality issues across sites
- Visualization & Reporting:
- Build interactive dashboards (e.g., in Tableau, Power BI, or R Shiny) to share real-time implementation and fidelity data
- Design visualizations that communicate key outcomes, equity gaps, and fidelity performance to diverse audiences (e.g., clinics, funders, state leaders)
- Support quarterly reporting requirements and contribute to internal briefs or funder updates
- Assist with designing presentation materials and visual summaries for Community of Practice meetings
- Collaboration & Feedback Integration:
- Work closely with project leads to iterate on reporting tools
- Integrate qualitative and contextual data to enhance interpretation of quantitative trends
- Support documentation of data definitions, assumptions, and limitations
Minimum Qualifications:
At least (5) years of experience and technical expertise in each of the following software systems:
- js, React and Ruby on Rails
- Azure App Services and Azure Web Services Administration
- Advanced SQL Query writing and data processing skills
- Data Analytics using PowerBI, PowerQuery, Sisense
- Data Visualization using PowerBI, Tableau and ThoughtSpot
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least (1) year of experience in the NYSPI environment
- Snowflake AI Data Cloud, SnowPRO certification ideal but not required
