Job Description

Job DescriptionGenerator Technical Support Analyst

Location: Greensboro, NC
Pay: $20.00–$24.00 per hour, based on experience
Position Type: Full-Time

What a day looks like

Morning starts with a headset check and your dashboard lighting up: a homeowner on chat asks why their unit won’t start after a storm. You guide them through safe, step-by-step checks, translate technical terms into plain language, and document each action. Next, a contractor calls about a voltage irregularity—you walk through diagnostic questions, isolate a likely cause, and outline the fix. Between emails, you reference product guides, navigate multiple screens, and keep the tone professional and calm. By day’s end, you’ve helped multiple customers get back to reliable power and captured clear notes so the next interaction (if needed) is seamless.

The role at a glance

  • Deliver multi‑channel support via phone, chat, and email for generator questions and issues
  • Troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical concerns with clear, logical steps
  • Ask targeted diagnostic questions to pinpoint root causes
  • Guide customers through safe, effective troubleshooting and potential solutions
  • Compose professional, easy‑to‑follow responses to technical emails
  • Break down complex technical information into understandable guidance
  • Work across multiple systems and screens while assisting customers
  • Record interactions, steps taken, and outcomes accurately and completely
  • Maintain courteous, professional communication in every contact
  • Build working knowledge of generator products, components, and common fault patterns
  • Strive for first‑contact resolution whenever possible

What you bring

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting mindset
  • Comfort with basic mechanical and electrical concepts
  • Background in technical support, mechanical, electrical, automotive, HVAC, small‑engine, equipment repair, or similar fields (preferred)
  • Customer service or call center exposure (a plus)
  • Proficiency with computers and quick navigation across multiple applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to communicate professionally via phone, chat, and email
  • Solid problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
  • Ability to learn new products and technical content quickly
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Any mechanical or electrical training/education (a plus)

Who thrives here

You’re mechanically inclined, curious, and calm under pressure. You ask smart questions, isolate issues methodically, and walk people through solutions with confidence and empathy. You don’t need direct generator experience—if you understand how machines work and enjoy learning, we’ll help you ramp up on generator systems.
