The Test Technician installs, wires, and tests custom-engineered control panels using wiring diagrams and electrical schematics. This role involves electrical wiring and rewiring, performing detailed electrical testing, and using a variety of hand and power tools to ensure panels operate safely, reliably, and according to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from wiring diagrams and electrical schematics to test and verify control panel functionality.
- Perform electrical wiring and rewiring of control panels, ensuring neat, accurate, and compliant installations.
- Conduct electrical testing on control panels using appropriate test equipment and tools.
- Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively during assembly, wiring, and testing activities.
- Troubleshoot custom-engineered control panels to identify root causes of electrical and control issues.
- Verify correct operation of electrical components such as PLCs, VFDs, soft starters, HMIs, breakers with interlocks, relays, pilot lights, and operators.
- Utilize electrical tools including voltage and current meters, loop calibrators, continuity testers, resistance testers, thermal cameras, torque wrenches, and PLC programming laptops to perform diagnostic and validation work.
- Document test results and findings clearly to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with a team of technicians and engineers to resolve complex technical issues and improve panel designs.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with electrical systems and test equipment.
Essential Skills
- 46 years of experience working with electrical systems, control panels, or similar test technician roles.
- Strong ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Hands-on experience with electrical wiring and rewiring of control panels or comparable equipment.
- In-depth understanding of electrical components including PLCs, VFDs, soft starters, HMIs, breakers with interlock, relays, pilot lights, and operators.
- In-depth understanding of electrical tools such as voltage and current meters, loop calibrators, continuity testers, resistance testers, thermal cameras, torque wrenches, and PLC programming laptops.
- Proficiency in electrical testing and use of test equipment for diagnostic and verification purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot custom-engineered control panels and resolve electrical and control issues.
- Competence in using basic hand and power tools in an electrical and panel-building environment.
- Solid knowledge of electronics and electrical principles relevant to industrial control panels.

Work Environment
The position is based in a temperature-controlled indoor facility that is very clean, orderly, and designed for comfortable technical work. You work as part of a team of approximately 12 people, collaborating closely with other technicians and engineering staff. The environment centers around electrical testing and panel work, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized electrical test equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Petersburg, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.19 - $25.19/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
