Job DescriptionTRC's client, located near Tupelo MS, has an opportunity for an IT Director of Data & AI to join their team! This opportunity is with a leading batter cell manufacturer on a mission to build the country's largest commercial lithium-iron-phosphate batter cell factory! They are backed by major industry players and offering significant growth opportunities! We are seeking an experienced and visionary IT Director of Data & AI to lead our data and AI strategy, reporting directly to the CIO. This critical leadership role will shape and execute a forward-thinking roadmap for data, analytics, and AI to drive business transformation and innovation across advanced manufacturing, engineering, and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute a scalable, secure data and AI strategy aligned with business goals.
- Advise the CIO and executive leadership on data-driven innovation and AI integration.
- Lead enterprise initiatives in data governance, data mesh, MDM, and AI ethics.
- Build and manage a high-performing team of data engineers, scientists, and AI/ML experts.
- Drive AI/ML solutions including predictive maintenance, digital twins, and automation.
- Establish Centers of Excellence and foster internal AI capabilities and data literacy.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, data privacy, and cybersecurity across platforms.
- Collaborate across departments to embed data and AI into core decision-making.
- Monitor and report on data/AI performance, KPIs, and business impact.
- Stay current on emerging technologies to continuously advance capabilities.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, and AI leadership, preferably in manufacturing or high-tech.
- 5–7+ years building enterprise data platforms and leading AI/ML transformation.
- Deep expertise in data governance, architecture, pipelines, and real-time analytics.
- Strong technical proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, TensorFlow, and cloud-native tools.
- Proven leadership of large teams and complex, global initiatives.
- Excellent communication and change management skills.
