Our client, a global manufacturer of precision tooling and machining solutions, is hiring an Aerospace Application Engineer to support and grow its aerospace customer base in the Wichita, Kansas region.

This role combines aerospace manufacturing expertise, cutting-tool applications, technical problem-solving, and customer support. The ideal candidate will understand aerospace manufacturing and subassembly processes and be comfortable working directly with customers on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and cutting-tool application support to aerospace OEM, Tier 1, and Tier 2 customers
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and tooling challenges directly on the customer floor
  • Support aerospace subassembly processes including drilling, reaming, trimming, machining, and assembly
  • Recommend tooling and process improvements to improve quality, productivity, tool life, and manufacturability
  • Conduct tooling trials, document results, and recommend improvements
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and new technology implementation
  • Train customers on cutting-tool applications and implementation
  • Coordinate with customers, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customer service
  • Develop customer relationships and identify new application opportunities

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience within aerospace manufacturing, preferably with an OEM, Tier 1, or Tier 2 supplier
  • Experience with cutting-tool applications and/or tooling used in aerospace manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing and subassembly processes
  • Experience working on or supporting the manufacturing/shop floor
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand manufacturing equipment, processes, and engineering requirements
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, field-based role
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, primarily Monday through Friday
  • Located in or near Wichita, KS; candidates in Oklahoma may also be considered

Preferred Experience

  • Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Application Engineer, Manufacturing R&D, or similar aerospace background
  • Drilling and reaming applications, including manual or ADU drilling/reaming
  • Knowledge of speeds and feeds, tool life, tolerances, surface finishes, and cutting-tool geometries
  • CAM programming and/or 2D/3D CAD
  • Experience implementing manufacturing cost savings or process improvements
