Job Summary

This resource is responsible for preparing, configuring, imaging, and deploying end-user computing devices across the firm. The role supports the end-to-end device readiness lifecycle, including new hire deployments, hardware refreshes, and VDI or virtual desktop readiness. The position ensures devices are secure, compliant, and fully operational prior to end-user delivery.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role that regularly balances device builds, ServiceNow assignments, deployment deadlines, associate communications, inventory tracking, and unexpected technical issues. Technicians are expected to recognize build failures, perform thorough quality checks, communicate problems promptly, and coordinate with local and remote support teams to keep deployments moving. The work may include standard laptop builds, specialized business software, virtual endpoints, large deployment projects, and onsite equipment installation.

This role sits within the Build & Deploy / End User Computing Technology Operations team. The position supports multiple Maryland locations: 4 resources for Baltimore, Maryland (Harbor Point / HQ) and 6 resources for Owings Mills, Maryland (Campus), with occasional support between Maryland locations as needed. This role is technical and hands-on, focused on device readiness and deployment execution rather than ongoing desk-side break/fix support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Image, configure, reimage, and prepare laptops, virtual machines, and desktops according to firm standards
  • Perform detailed QA checks to validate Microsoft 365 applications, drivers, network connectivity, BitLocker, Zscaler, OneDrive, security agents, and overall device readiness
  • Prepare and deploy devices for new hires, hardware refreshes, emergency replacements, and large-scale rollout initiatives
  • Manage assigned device-configuration tasks and maintain accurate asset, status, ownership, and work-note records in ServiceNow
  • Coordinate device handoffs and issue resolution with Asset Management, Desktop Support, workstation engineering, remote build technicians, and onsite support teams
  • Install standard and specialized software, confirm associate requirements, and support VDI, Windows 365, Windows upgrades, and other deployment initiatives

Required Skills

  • Windows 11 installation, imaging, configuration, validation, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with enterprise deployment and endpoint-management tools such as Intune, Autopilot, SCCM, and Company Portal
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, OneDrive, BitLocker, Zscaler, device drivers, wired and wireless connectivity, and endpoint security agents
  • Ability to troubleshoot failed builds, software installations, certificates, remote access, virtual endpoints, and hardware-related configuration issues

Preferred Skills

  • ServiceNow experience
  • Familiarity with Intune, Autopilot, SCCM, or similar
  • Excel experience and large-scale rollout participation

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an onsite role due to hands-on build, staging, and deployment activities
  • Reliable transportation is required for periodic travel between Maryland locations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • The individual will receive training on build standards, deployment procedures, and documentation requirements and is expected to continuously improve processes
