United Mechanical is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the execution of commercial mechanical construction projects while developing the experience needed to take on greater project management responsibility.
The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers, field leadership, customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors while gaining experience in project cost control, scheduling, procurement, documentation, coordination, and overall project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review plans, specifications, schedules, submittals, contracts, and other project documents.
- Prepare and maintain RFIs, submittals, change documentation, purchase orders, equipment tracking, and other project records.
- Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Track project costs, schedules, commitments, billings, and other project information for review with the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with customers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, superintendents, foremen, and other field personnel as appropriate.
- Visit active project sites as needed to support project execution and maintain an understanding of field progress.
- Assist with project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, warranties, O&M manuals, and final documentation.
- Exercise sound judgment in handling project issues independently while recognizing when Project Manager involvement is needed.
Qualifications
- Mechanical construction experience strongly preferred. Prior project coordination or project management experience is a plus.
- Candidates with strong relevant plumbing, HVAC, piping, field, estimating, or other mechanical construction experience will also be considered.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong organization, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow project issues through completion.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and construction/project management software, with the ability to learn company systems as needed.
- Interest in developing toward increased project management responsibility.
