Senior Data Architect
Location: Plymouth Meeting, PA - Hybrid
Type: Full-time, permanent
A large and well-established organization is hiring a senior architect to shape how the business designs, governs, and uses its data. You will set the direction for data management standards and lead the move to a modern, unified analytics platform. You'll work with senior stakeholders to turn complex business needs into scalable, secure architecture that supports better decisions across the organization.
This is an individual contributor role with real influence mentoring other architects and engineers.
What you'll do
- Design secure, scalable data solutions on Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory, Power BI, Synapse)
- Build and maintain data models, pipelines, and semantic layers for analytics and reporting
- Lead the technical side of a platform modernization program, including migration to Fabric
- Work with business analysts and data engineers to turn requirements into clear architecture blueprints
- Uphold data governance, quality, and security standards across projects
- Tune performance and optimize cost across data workflows and reporting assets
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to architecture reviews and standards
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or a related field
- 7+ years in data architecture or solution design across BI, analytics, or data engineering
- Hands-on experience with DAX, SQL, and a scripting language (Python or Spark)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services
- Skill in dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT, data integration, and semantic modeling
- Working knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices for data solutions
- Advanced BI expertise and the business sense to become a subject matter expert in complex processes
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Nice to have
- Experience in a data-intensive industry such as finance, healthcare, retail, or insurance
- Exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud environments
- Familiarity with modern patterns such as lakehouse and data mesh
