Sr Environmental Project Manager

EEC is seeking a motivated Senior Environmental Project Manager to join our Environmental team in Orange, California. This position is responsible for leading complex environmental assessment, remediation, due diligence, and compliance projects while serving as a trusted technical and strategic advisor to EEC's clients.

\n

The Senior Project Manager will manage client relationships, develop project strategy, scopes and budgets, provide technical and regulatory oversight, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with EEC's quality standards.

\n

This role is intended for an experienced environmental consultant who can operate independently, lead and mentor project teams, navigate complex regulatory matters, and identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and develop new business. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with project leadership, client management, and a demonstrated business development mindset.

\n

LOCATION & PAY:

\n

· Job Location: Orange, CA (100% in office)

\n

· Annual Compensation: 150K – 220K: Discretionary Year End Bonus

\n


\n

RESPONSIBILITIES:

\n


\n

· Lead complex environmental assessment, remediation, due diligence, and compliance projects from initial scoping through completion.

\n

· Serve as the primary client contact for assigned projects and develop long-term, trusted client relationships.

\n

· Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, proposals, work plans, and technical approaches.

\n

· Manage projects to meet scope, schedule, budget, quality, and profitability expectations.

\n

· Provide senior-level technical oversight for Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, subsurface investigations, remediation programs, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.

\n

· Develop investigation and remediation strategies for properties impacted by soil, soil vapor, and groundwater contamination.

\n

· Review and interpret laboratory, field, hydrogeologic, and investigation data and provide technical recommendations to clients.

\n

· Provide technical review and QA/QC of reports, work plans, proposals, and other deliverables prepared by project teams.

\n

· Lead communication and coordination with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Toxic Substances Control, California Regional Water Quality Control Boards, CUPAs, and other agencies.

\n

· Advise clients regarding regulatory requirements, environmental risk, compliance strategies, and corrective actions.

\n

· Manage subcontractors, laboratories, field personnel, and other project resources.

\n

· Provide oversight of environmental due diligence and compliance assessments at industrial and commercial facilities.

\n

· Effectively communicate project results, risks, budgets, schedules, and recommendations to clients and EEC leadership.

\n

· Mentor and develop junior staff and Project Managers, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional growth.

\n

· Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and actively participate in developing new client relationships.

\n

· Prepare and support proposals, presentations, client meetings, and other business development activities.

\n

· Participate in professional organizations, conferences, industry events, and other activities that strengthen EEC's presence in the environmental consulting market.

\n

· Collaborate with EEC Principals and senior leadership on strategic client, project, and practice-development initiatives.

\n


\n

REQUIREMENTS:

\n


\n

· Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.

\n

· 10+ years of progressively responsible environmental consulting experience, including demonstrated project management and client management responsibilities.

\n

· Strong technical background in environmental site assessment, subsurface investigation, remediation, due diligence, and/or environmental compliance.

\n

· Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, including scope, schedule, budget, technical quality, subcontractors, and project teams.

\n

· Experience working directly with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.

\n

· Strong technical writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

\n

· Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.

\n

· Ability to identify opportunities for additional services and contribute to business development and proposal efforts.

\n

· Experience mentoring and developing junior technical and project management staff.

\n

· Strong judgment and the ability to independently manage technical, client, regulatory, and project challenges.

\n

· Self-driven, organized, and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy.

\n

· Ability to travel and perform occasional field work as project needs require.

\n

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

\n

· Professional registration or certification such as PG, PE, or similar credential is preferred, where applicable to the candidate’s area of expertise.

\n

· Must be able to successfully pass required background screening and drug testing.

\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Required to sit or stand at an office workstation, sometimes for extended periods of time

\n

· Required to work on keyboard, using a mouse while looking at computer screens/monitors, sometimes for extended periods of time

\n

· Comfortable working outdoors and able to perform field work on uneven surfaces

\n

· Required to work with tools and appropriate materials used for sample collections

\n

· Be able to lift up to 25 lbs
